NACTAROME COMPLETES THE ACQUISITION OF ITALIAN-BASED FIAS
The third acquisition this year, strengthening the Group position in natural flavours for sweet and beverage applications
Milan, November 22nd, 2021 – Nactarome Group, portfolio company of Ambienta SGR SpA (“Ambienta”), Europe’s largest sustainability-focused private equity investor, has successfully completed the acquisition of FIAS – Fabbrica Italiana Aromi Speciali s.r.l – an Italian-based creator and producer of specialty and quality extracts and natural flavours for the sweet and beverage markets.
The acquisition of FIAS solidifies the leadership position of Nactarome on the Italian ice cream and sweet markets and strengthens Nactarome brand and competitive positioning in Germany thanks to FIAS strategical presence in the country (c. 40% of sales), thus allowing further development in continuity with Nactarome strategy, after the acquisition of Pharmorgana GmbH last May. Furthermore, it strengthens the access to vanilla-based raw materials by bringing in-house competences, know-how and close relationships with strategic natural vanilla suppliers.
FIAS was founded in 1968 by Luciano Cunial in Vanzago, close to Milan (Italy), initially as a specialist manufacturer of flavours and extracts for the soft drinks industry. The company, today, is a highquality producer of tailored and customized flavours for the sweet and beverage industries with a strong market reputation and a strategic positioning in the occasion bakery and traditional Italianstyle ice cream arenas. FIAS has developed a relevant expertise in vanilla-based flavours, maintaining particular care and attention to its customers’ needs and promoting a strong focus on environmental sustainability.
